Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition

 In order to successfully organize SLIM (Shelf Life International Meeting) events, GSICA always looked for fruitful partnerships with local researchers or universities involved in food sciences. Technical experience alongside a strong presence “on site” showed to be of paramount importance for setting up successful meetings. For the aforementioned reasons, also for 2012 SLIM event scheduled in Changwon (South Korea) May 30th – June 1st , GSICA has selected an exceptional partner: the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (KFN). It’s been a few years since partnership among GSICA and KFN started, and the excellent relation between GSICA president, Prof. Luciano Piergiovanni, and Prof. Dong Sun Lee it’s guaranteeing a long lasting collaboration. Such a good relation it’s now at the basis of SLIM taking place in South Korea.

GSICA and young PhD researchers GSICA’s directive council sponsored the 16th edition of the workshop “Developments in the Italian PhD Research on Food Science, Technology and Biotechnology”.

The event was carried out in Lodi, Centro Tecnologico Padano, from 21st to 23rd September 2011.

V editions - SLIM in Korea

Changwon, 30 may -01 june 2012

The fifth edition of SLIM, Shelf Life International Meeting, will be held in Changwon, in Korea of the South from 30 May to the 01 June 2012.

The meeting will be in Changwon Convention Center in Changwon and together we will have a workshop on “Food Packaging Safety”. The SLIM 2012 will be organized the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (KFN)  and the Italian Scientific Group of Food Packaging (GSICA). During the SLIM meeting will come introduced the fundamental aspect about shelf life of food and beverage and future directions for research and applications on the shelf life of packaged foodstuff.

New Forum GSICA

We are glad to inform you that is on line, at the link www.foodpackages.net/forum, the new forum born to GSICA and Food Packages for food packaging scientists.

It is the first specific public forum for people that taken care of food and drink packaging. The forum is in Italian but are already present some participations translate in English .The secretariat is at your disposition in order to insert your participations in English language and translate in Italian.

CISETA 2011

Introduced the tenth edition of CISETA, biennial appointment about the development of science and technology in the alimentary field. The conference will be kept to Milan, among of the third edition of Tuttofood, the 9 and 10 May 2011 near the Fair of Milan (Rho, Milan).

As usual the food packaging section it will be sponsored from GSICA. In this occasion will be introduced the best contributions of the scientific search applied to the problematic ones and the industrial innovations of the field.

Renewal of GSICA's association

It's open the campaign fot the new associative's card to GSICA for year 2011.

Thanks to the increasing number of associated and supporters, GSICA is a point of reference in the national and international field of food packaging.

Also in the new year there will be many events not to lose, always with the objective to involve the associates and encourage the growth and diffusion of a food packaging scientific culture.

Annual Assembly : some important reflections

The President of GSICA, Prof. Luciano Piergiovanni, during the annual assembly realized in Milan at15 October 2010, has wished to the strengthening of association and to a widening of the activities in program for the new year.

During this global recession the GSICA in fact must offer an independent and strategic service to the institutions and to the organizations of this sector. Important events have been realized in 2010, like the GSICA meets of Ragusa and Milan, the IV edition of Slim to Zaragozza, the GSICA awards entitled to prof. Marco Riva; all these activities have been supported from the consolidated collaboration with the review Food Packages.
